img_6030Barry Matthisen, DC


Dr. Barry Matthisen, DC, was raised in south Anchorage. He graduated from Service High School and Western Washington University. He obtained his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic and has been practicing in south Anchorage for over 25 years. He is also an Advanced Graduate of the Spine Research Institute of San Diego and has been involved with auto crash research since 2002, from participating in live human crash testing to biomechanics and whiplash traumatology. He has been qualified as an expert in Alaska Courts, and remains on the forefront of current research. This advanced training and experience is crucial and has shown to be successful with patients suffering from auto crash and work injuries. He also has been the doctor for the Anchorage Aces hockey club and treats sports injuries in addition to providing general family wellness care.

Dr. Matthisen is also the proud owner of a beautiful yellow labrador, Zoey.

Bryan MatthisenBryan Matthisen, DC


Dr. Bryan Matthisen was born and raised in Anchorage; he attended East high school and the University of Alaska Anchorage. He received his Doctorate of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, CA. At the end of his tenure in San Jose, Bryan’s preceptorship was at the chiropractic office where the San Jose Sharks hockey players received their care. This experience allowed him to witness how the top athletes in the sport, as well as family-friendly patients, were treated with the current and new tools of chiropractic. Throughout his time busy time through school he obtained certifications in:

  • Active Release Technique, Full body (ART)
  • Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA)
  • SMART Tools Certification

He was a member of Palmer College of Chiropractic West’s Sports council, which allowed him to provide onsite chiropractic care to athletes of at all types of events such as:

  • Surfer’s Path Marathon-Santa Cruz, CA
  • Wheels for Meals Ride-Alameda County, CA

Jane is the Director of Alaska Back Care Center. She was born in The Dalles, Oregon into a large family; Jane is one of two sets of twins, and has two more siblings as as well! Her family eventually moved to Sunnyside, Washington, where Jane graduated from Sunnyside High School. She has several certifications in Business.

Jane moved to Southeast Alaska in 1985, where she volunteered in her girls’ class room and then began substituting at the elementary school. Jane also, was involved in the girls track team, gymnastics, baton twirling and annual swim trips; she took the gymnastic & basketball girls team to Juneau to participate in away sports. In 1987 they moved to Anchorage.

Jane has two daughters, Kristine and Kimberly (5 grandchildren) all reside in Anchorage.

Billing Specialist/Front Office Manager

Kimberly was born in Sunnyside, WA and graduated from Bartlett High School in Anchorage. She then went on to graduate from Alaska Career College with a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) diploma in 2002. She is the proud mother of two: Her son, Winston, and daughter, Hannah-Jane. Kimberly is also an avid potter, and has her own studio where she creates pottery and glass artwork. Volunteering is another passion of hers. She is the leader of the Family Readiness Group, an Exchange Host Parent, and a member of the Protestant Women of the Chapel.

Erica Santiago

Billing Specialist/Front Office Manager

Erica was born in the Philippines, moved to Alaska in 1990’s. She has two wonderful daughters, who keep her very busy with various activities within the community. She has an adorable “teacup” yoriki named “Lola.”

Erica graduated from ACC as a Certified Health Insurance Biller and Coder in 2012. She has received her HIPAA certified Compliance in 2004.

Enjoys cooking and gardening. A cacti and succulent lover. Her hobbies include playing volleyball and watching Netflix with her daughters.

Taylor Von Heeder, LMT

Massage Therapist

Taylor is a lifelong Alaskan, having been born and raised in Soldotna. Initially, she received a diploma from Soldotna High School. After graduation is moved to Anchorage to continue her education at ACC. She enrolled in the Massage Therapy program, graduating in the 10 percent of her graduating class. Taylor thrives in learning about the mind-body connection and intends to continue deepening her healing work while assisting others with their own healing journey.

Josh Morehouse, LMT

Massage Therapist

Josh has been a licensed massage therapist since 2011 after graduating from Alaska Career College in Anchorage, AK.  He also holds a National Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.  Josh uses a wide range of massage modalities to provide bodywork focused on pain relief, rehabilitation, and recovery from injury.

He incorporates elements from both Western massage and Asian bodywork including:

    • Myofascial Release
    • Pregnancy Massage
