They were asked to sit in either a slumped or upright position. The participants were then shown 16 uplifting words like “enjoyable” and ”beauty” on the screen. They were then showed negative words like “dejected” and ”exhaustion”.They were then asked to picture themselves in a scene connected with each of those words, such as a time when they felt beautiful or depressed. They were asked to do other tasks for five minutes, then they were asked to try and remember as many words as possible.The participants who were in a slumped posture recalled the negative words while those sitting in the upright posture showed a balanced memory. This study showed the link between the posture of a person and their mood.
