Assess Your Injuries

When it comes to injuries sustained in a fall or during sleep, the aftermath is the most dangerous. If you have been experiencing any pain or hindered movement it is always a good idea to get a qualified opinion and medical treatment.

Even if your injuries don’t appear serious or in need of immediate medical attention, they could still be more serious than you know. You will want to let your chiropractor know about your fall even if it wasn’t your spine that was directly affected or impacted. The spine carries the weight of the entire body. As your biometrics are altered in the fall it is impossible for the spine not to take the impact in some way through the knees, hips or shoulders. This can cause further injuries if you were to place weight on your back and strain it further.

First Things First…

The first thing to do after a fall is just staying put and take a deep breath. It is not a good idea to try and pick yourself up just yet, give your body a second to acclimate to the ordeal. This will allow your body to get a feel for its center of gravity again and this will improve your stability when you stand back up. while you are on the floor you can take moment to run a body scan and check where you feel injured and to what extent.

Once you have returned to your daily routine be sure to take things slowly, you may need to modify some of your actions and maybe even take a few days off the gym to allow your muscles and structure some time to recover. Maybe your regular routine will be just fine but you may want to use lighter weights or slow your routine down a few bars to prevent any further injury.

Heal Naturally

It is important to allow the swelling and inflammation to complete their work. Instead of working against these with medication, modify their functions. After a few days from the fall, you can use ice to bring down the inflammation that may still be active. You can leave it there for up to 15 minutes but then wait for a full hour before applying again. Then there are some natural anti-inflammatories like turmeric, garlic, and ginger that are especially good at addressing these conditions.

Chiropractic treatment is another good way to relieve the pain and speed up the healing process.
